# Solitude enables creativity The intellectual life start when you quite your mind and there is silence within. Do not consume news as they will hurt your peace of mind. Embrace solitude, as retirement is the laboratory of spirit. All great works were created in the desert. The desert is a valuable metaphor for living in solitude. But, it is not recommended to be in solitude all the time. Better to be in the companion of bright people and supreme minds that will improve your ideas. As Stephen C. Stearns said "To learn to think, you need two things: large blocks of time and as much one-to-one interaction as you can with someone who thinks clearer than you do". Social events can be experienced as reading a book and also contribute to your well being.
